Wild Horse Creek Press Publisher Keith Powell presented Columbia Basin Institute of Regional History (CBIRH) Board Chair Chris Johns with a cheque for $4,500 Tuesday as part of the proceeds from an almost sold-out first edition of ‘Forgotten Cranbrook’ A Photo History of Early Cranbrook and District.

According to Powell, the book has only been out for a month, and sales have been astounding.

The book was co-authored by Powell, Derryll White, CBIRH founder, writer, historian, and Erin Knutson, executive director, writer, and journalist.

“Things went smoothly, and I’m delighted with the product,” said Powell.

Johns was equally pleased with the book’s return and its effect on raising the Institute’s profile in the community.

Powell, Johns, and Knutson signed off on the original agreement without a guarantee of results, and the feedback and response to the project have greatly exceeded expectations.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of this book and to have the opportunity to work with excellent people – when you are lucky enough to work with great individuals and things gel, that’s everything. It’s an affirmation that our work is moving in the right direction and that people enjoy it and see the importance of preserving history,” said Knutson.
