Some 15^th and 16^th Avenue S residents have been evacuated this afternoon due to a gas leak in an alley.

The City of Cranbrook confirmed that a leak occurred in the alley east of 15th Avenue South, where there is water main reconstruction underway.

Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services and city crews responded, going door-to-door.

Fortis is currently on site making repairs.

An evacuated resident provided a video to e-KNOW with a note: “Came back (after two hours) and that’s what it still looks like.”
