ICE ink Carson Lambos, two other draft picks
The Kootenay ICE has announced that defenceman Carson Lambos has signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the organization.
The ICE selected Lambos second overall in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
A resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Lambos played for the Rink Hockey Academy Nationals Bantam Prep of the CSSHL during the 2017-18 season. He recorded 15 goals and 25 assists for 40 points in 30 regular season games. The six-foot, 197-pound defender added 11 points in five playoff games.
The 15-year-old led all defencemen in points in the CSSHL’s Bantam Prep league. He was also named the league’s top defenceman.
“We thought Carson was the best player available in the draft. Our player development team and coaches look forward to working closely with him and partnering with Carson in his development,” said Jake Heisinger, Director of Scouting and Hockey Operations.
Lambos helped lead the RHA Nationals to a championship finals appearance against OHA Edmonton.
The ICE also this morning announced that defenceman Karter Prosofsky and forward Skyler Bruce have signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the organization.
The ICE selected Prosofsky with the 26th overall pick and Bruce with the 29th overall pick in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
“Player experience is something we talk about on a daily basis; our coaches and staff have worked very hard to provide a tremendous environment for development and it is exciting that Carson, Karter and Skyler have all chosen to be part of what we believe is a very bright future ahead for the ICE,” said Matt Cockell, President and General Manager.
During the 2017-18 season, Prosofsky – a native of Saskatoon, Sask., – played in 24 regular season games with the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy Bantam Prep of the CSSHL. The five-foot-nine, 150-pound defenceman scored eight goals and registered 18 points in those 24 games.
Bruce suited up in 30 regular season games for the Rink Hockey Academy Nationals Bantam Prep of the CSSHL. The five-foot-eight, 127-pound forward potted 21 goals and 40 points in those 30 games. The Winnipeg resident added three goals and eight points in five playoff games.
Bruce was named the CSSHL’s Bantam Prep Most Sportsmanlike Player.
Bruce was on the same team as Carson Lambos that appeared in the championship finals against OHA Edmonton.
