Hospice, community safety, taxes and city services highlight city’s 2027 Budget Citizen Survey
Public input is invited now through to Friday, October 2, on the City of Cranbrook’s 2027 Budget Citizen Survey, an important tool to help the newly elected Mayor and council make informed decisions about future services and budget allocations.
This survey builds on last year’s input ahead of the 2026 budget process, which guided council’s decision-making.
The city is running two surveys: a statistically valid survey and a public opinion survey. The statistically valid survey was recently mailed to 1,600 randomly selected residents to provide a reliable picture of overall community sentiment.
The public opinion survey, available online, is open to all city residents to share their ideas.
Paper copies are also available for pickup at City Hall.
Both sets of survey results will be presented to Mayor and council ahead of the 2027 budget discussions later this fall.
The survey will again also have a focus on community safety, policing and city services to help the incoming council understand trends year over year as this continues to be a significant priority.
As part of the 2027 Budget Citizen Survey, residents will also be asked if they support having the proposed 10-bed Cranbrook Kimberley Hospice House located at the Mount Baker RV Campground property, or located in one of four other potential locations: the Frost lands near St. Mary’s School, in the Highlands area, in the Slaterville area on 5th Street NW or the south area of the Kinsmen Quad Ball Park off Willowbrook Drive.

Please complete the survey by Friday, October 2.
Responses are anonymous and will be compiled by an independent firm to ensure confidentiality. Results will be shared with the newly elected Mayor and council at their regular meeting on November 23, and will also be made available on the city’s website at www.cranbrook.ca.
