Kootenay Kitchen Confidential

DanielleCTaste Life

By Danielle Cardozo

On September 13, 2013 I flew to Toronto to one of the greatest experiences of my life: MasterChef Canada.

The emotional impact upon completion of the shoot was mind numbing (which I will explain in future posts). But it was the months following that had an even greater impact.

DC 1 Dave-BohatiA few degrees of separation provided me the opportunity to meet a group within the Calgary culinary scene. I met culinary magazine publishers, writers, publicists, and more. They live a glamorous life of stunning restaurants, great food, and so much more. They’ve become some of my closest friends, as who understands your passion for food more than those who live within the culinary world?

Photos and posts about their beautiful dishes and services, which they make look beautiful and effortless. I encourage you to check out their social media pages and their restaurants, as they are some of the best in the province, and even the country.

Calgary has a culinary scene that I have fallen in love with.

DC 3 kyle grovesThe whole reason I started this blog was to support the culinary scene in the Kootenays. So I introduce to you Kootenay Kitchen Confidential: a monthly series that will take you into the kitchens, hearts, and minds of chefs in the Kootenays.

With that said, I need the input of our readers! So please comment below with your favorite local chef and or restaurant, so that I know who YOU want to learn all about!

Watch out for the first Kootenay Kitchen Confidential with the Heid Out Executive Chef, Rusty Cox, coming this July.

In the meantime, I encourage you to read this excerpt from Anthony Bourdain’s ‘So You Wanna Be a Chef?’

XOXO

Dave Bohati, Executive Chef, Market Restaurant

Duncan Ly, Executive Chef/Owner, RawBar YYC

Kyle Groves, Executive Chef, Catch and the Oyster Bar
