Legion outlines Thursday’s ceremonies

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 24 has outlined how this year’s Remembrance Day ceremonies will roll out, with the public again invited to attend in person at the Cenotaph/Rotary Park.

The ceremony gets underway around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11 with the parade to begin in front of the City Hall. The parade will continue across the street to the cenotaph at Rotary Park. Around the outside perimeter of the cenotaph you can stand to watch, listen, and participate in the Remembrance Day Ceremony followed by the laying of the wreaths.

Environment Canada reports it will be about 4C with a mix of sun and cloud on Thursday.

Following the ceremony, Branch no. 24 will be open.

However, all provincial health protocols will be in place including the need for a BC Vaccine Card for entering. The lounge capacity is currently at 89, but boardroom down the hall will also be open with a capacity of 50.

The Legion will be serving chili, buns and cake.

Only Veterans will be allowed the first hour of opening to show respect, followed by the public. Lest We Forget.
