Legion supports Cranbrook Children’s Festival

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 24 Cranbrook continued its philanthropic mission with a $550 donation to the 2018 Cranbrook Children’ Festival.

Comrade Colleen Shaw, a director with the Cranbrook Legion, presented Children’s Festival representative Natalie Vandermolen with a cheque at a presentation ceremony in advance of the 33rd annual festival, held May 12 at Mount Baker Secondary School field.

“The Legion has a strong community mandate and donates tens of thousands of dollars each year to various organization in Cranbrook in a goal to make our community stronger and more sustainable,” said Shaw.  “We not only support our veterans, we are an active, contributing part of the fabric of our community.”

The Cranbrook Legion branch is located in the basement of the Heritage Hotel and is open to members and guests from 2 p.m. daily.

Saturdays are an exciting time at the branch with meat draws, dart shoots, 50/50 draws and terrific camaraderie in a warm comfortable atmosphere.
