After first place finishes in last weekend’s Koocanusa Wakesurfing Challenge, Cranbrook residents Gabrielle and Isaac Hockley are this weekend competing in the Northwest Wake Surf Open on Lake Tye in Monroe, Washington.

The couple shone on Lake Koocanusa during last weekend’s Challenge, sponsored by Sunshine Houseboats, and enter this weekend’s World Series of Wakesurfing event at or near the top of their respective divisions. Gabrielle competes in semi-pro and Isaac, also a City of Cranbrook councillor, is the top ranked amateur.

Based on the strength of their finishes at Koocanusa, the Hockleys have earned the right to compete in the Canadian Finals, being held near Toronto on August 20/21.

This weekend’s event near Seattle, pulled by a Nautique G23, is a Competitive Wake Surf Association World Series Silver Level competition.

Possible Live-streaming of the event.
