Sandy Zeznik named Cranbrook’s Citizen of the Year

This one should be filed under the ‘didn’t this happen already?’ category. Because it should have happened – a few times.

The Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce Jan. 3 revealed Sandy Zeznik is its 49th annual Citizen of the Year Award recipient.

I once thought Sandy had a twin, who was also extremely giving of her time for a myriad of community causes, events and service organizations.

It seems like every community event I photograph, Sandy Zeznik is there, front and centre but in the background, volunteering massive volumes of time and energy.

“Sandy is the only person I know who is so involved in so many groups in Cranbrook that she carries around a bag of name tags from the various organizations when she is volunteering for them,” said fellow volunteer Doug Newberry.

“Immense congratulations to this community-dedicated woman. With so many outstanding things said in her nomination and supporting letters, it’s hard for us to choose only a few words to share,” the chamber noted in its announcement.

Read more about Sandy and think about attending the Citizen of the Year celebration to learn even more about the spirit of giving so embodied by Sandy Zeznik.

To get a further sense about her, search “Sandy Zeznik” on e-KNOW.

The chamber said the annual celebration will this year be an afternoon event in early February. Ticket & event details are to be released online and on eventbrite shortly.

In the meantime, you may contact the chamber at [email protected] with questions, comments, or words of support for Sandy
