Spirit of the Rockies Festival replacing Sam Steele Days
The biggest community festival in the Kootenays is changing its name.
Spirit of the Rockies Festival Society (formerly Sam Steele Society) today issued a media release outlining the change of the annual June celebration festival’s name.
“Since 1966, Sam Steele Days has provided an opportunity for the people of Cranbrook and the Kootenays to come together and celebrate food, music, sports, entertainment, and most of all, our community spirit.
“After 57 years, we are proud to announce our annual festival will now be known as Spirit of the Rockies Festival. Attendees can expect the same high calibre of entertainment and activities as in past years.
“Without the ongoing commitment from volunteers and community partners, the festival would not exist. Moving forward, we are going to put new efforts and focus on bringing in new energy and volunteers to drive forward the Spirit of the Rockies Festival,” the Spirit of the Rockies Festival Society media release stated.
The newly named festival will be held June 15-18.
