Entrepreneurs vying for cash prize in Pitch Showcase

Free virtual event tomorrow afternoon

The Kootenay Association for Science and Technology (KAST) has partnered with Spring Activator and Volition to host a Pitch Showcase Finale, a capstone event of the Investment Readiness Training (IRT) program in support of tech-focused entrepreneurs and start-up founders from across the Kootenay region.

This free virtual event is held on Thursday, May 12, 2 – 4 p.m. MST through Hopin, a virtual event management software platform.

Tech entrepreneurs, experienced investors and other public viewers in the Kootenays are invited to join in, learn about investing in a business and cheer on contestants, who are braving the virtual stage to pitch their business.

After receiving support and one-on-one pitch coaching to create a compelling investor pitch over the nine-week IRT program, entrepreneurs will compete for a grand prize of $1,000 and an automatic invite to our Impact Investor Challenge this fall. Each entrepreneur is given three minutes to pitch their business, followed by a Q & A session with the judges.

“Spring Activator is so excited to be working alongside KAST and Volition to train early stage Kootenay’s companies on pitching and investment readiness. After eight weeks of training, we could not be more happy to hear the entrepreneurs present their pitches for the community on May 12. Join us and our community for the KAST Pitch Showcase,” said Kristen Perry, Impact Investment Program manager at Spring Activator

“What an incredible group of entrepreneurs,” said Melanie Fontaine, Executive Director at KAST. “I have been following along each week with the participants and have seen them grow with their pitches and company development. There truly are so many innovative and hardworking entrepreneurs in the Kootenays. I am so excited to see them all together for the final pitch event!”

“We are honoured to have joined forces with KAST and Spring these past few weeks to deliver the Investor Readiness Program to six up-and-coming startups in the Kootenays region. Supporting these entrepreneurs on their fundraising journeys has been both energizing and inspiring, and I am looking forward to cheering them on at the KAST Showcase,” said Melanie Ewan, Managing Partner of Volition.
