EVR supports Bummers Flats project
Elk Valley Resources (EVR) proudly contributed $250,000 towards phase 1 of the Bummers Flats Floodplain and Wetland Restoration Project at the North Bummers Conservation Area, located approximately 25 kilometres northeast of Cranbrook.
Phase 1 of this five-year restoration project has been completed, restoring 167 acres of wetland area. The goal of the project is to restore natural connectivity and enhance habitat for the benefit of a broad range of species, including waterfowl, songbirds, amphibians and ungulates.
The Bummers Flats floodplain is part of a 4,941-acre conservation complex and the restoration project is being undertaken by Ducks Unlimited Canada in collaboration with ʔaq̓am Community – St. Mary’s Indian Band, The Nature Trust of British Columbia and the B.C. Ministry of Water, Lands and Resource Stewardship.
