Highway 3 closed near Salmo for two fatality collision

Highway 3 is closed late this afternoon (March 4) near Salmo due to a two fatality collision.

At approximately 3:20 p.m. (PST), Police and Emergency Services responded to a head-on collision on Highway 3 on the Bombi Pass west of Salmo.

Upon arrival it was determined that two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision and police can confirm two fatalities at this time, reported BC RCMP Traffic Services.

The investigation is in the early stages and information is limited at this time. The highway will remain closed in both directions as West Kootenay Traffic Services, South East District Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service and the BC Coroners’ Service investigate this collision.
