KIJHL begins season planning following announcement

On Monday (August 24), B.C.’s provincial government announced a move into Phase 3 of viaSport’s ‘Return to Sport’ plan.

In viaSport’s release, BC Centre for Disease Control has reviewed viaSport’s Return to Sport Guidelines for Phase 3. This new guidance addresses contact activities, cohorts, competitions, high-performance training environments and travel.

“Sport is an important part of mental and physical health for children, youth, families and our communities,” said Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.’s provincial health officer in the viaSport release. “These guidelines will enable the social and emotional benefits of sport, while ensuring the sports activities remain as safe as possible.”

With this news, the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) can work to finalize the format, structure and start date of its 2020/21 season.

We look forward to sharing our plans with our players, fans and volunteers in the near future.
