Snowfall warning for Kootenay and Yoho areas

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Kootenay and Yoho national park areas.

Snow, at times heavy, is expected, with as much as 20 cm possible between tonight and tomorrow (Sunday).

“Light snow from an intense Pacific frontal system will start this evening and become heavier overnight. The snow is expected to persist into Sunday afternoon with total accumulations near 20 cm. The snow may become mixed with rain later Sunday as snow levels rise,” Environment Canada stated.

DriveBC has already issued an alert for Highway 93 through Kootenay National Park, warning of limited visibility with fog between Radium Hot Springs and Alberta border. Watch for slippery sections.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
