Stargazing at the Fort
Step into the night at Fort Steele Heritage Town Wednesday, May 13 and join us for a relaxed, beginner-friendly stargazing experience where the wonders of the universe come into view—far from city lights and closer than you might think.
Discover how the light we see from the Moon, planets, and distant stars is a message from the past—traveling across vast stretches of space and time before reaching Earth. We’ll explore what it really means to “look back in time” when we look up at the stars.
We’ll also introduce the night sky through the lens of constellations—what they are, what they aren’t, and how different cultures have used them for navigation and storytelling across history.
For this evening (9 – 11 p.m.), we’ll focus on some of the most recognizable spring constellations, including Leo, Virgo, Ursa Major, Boötes, and Cancer.
Bring warm layers, curiosity, and a sense of wonder as we explore the sky together.
Note: Guests are welcome to bring their own equipment, but we do not have equipment ourselves.
