Three new wildfires reported in region

BC Wildfire Service this morning reports three new lightning-caused wildfires in the region.

Two of the fires started overnight thanks to some intense thunderstorm activity and a third was ignited August 25.

The Murphy Creek (N12031) wildfire is currently out-of-control at two hectares.

The fire is about 400 metres north of St. Mary Lake Road in the Meachen area, about three km west of St. Mary Lake.

There are two Initial Attack Crews responding to this wildfire along with helicopter support.

The Kamma Creek (N71993) fire, about 22 km northeast of Kitchener is 0.1 ha.

And the Kid Creek (N71956) fire, discovered Aug. 25 about 20 km north of Yahk, is an estimated .009 ha.
