Two new fires reported by BCWS

BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) today reports a new fire in Booth Creek, about two km north of New Lake, west of Cranbrook.

Estimated at one hectare in size, it is believed the fire was ignited by lightning.

Another fire is reported in the Bruce Creek drainage, about nine km west of Wilmer.

The 11-day-old Doctor Creek fire is still noted at 4,594 hectares.

Yesterday, 125 firefighters, eight helicopters and 13 pieces of heavy equipment attacked the fire.

The person-caused fire in Moyie River (near Lumberton), found Aug. 27, is now rated as under control at .6 ha.
