Working to overcome adversity together

Letter to the Editor

Justin Trudeau is continuing to offer no real plan to deal with the health crisis. He’s ignoring the urgent health care needs of the provinces and he has no plan to address the lack of jobs or difficulties facing our economy. Today, my Conservative colleagues and I are calling on the government to immediately:

  • Deploy widespread access to rapid testing for all Canadians, including providing access to at-home tests, to stop the spread of the virus while allowing workers to go to their jobs and for families to be safely reunited;
  • Develop more effective and targeted measures to protect, isolate, and support those infected with COVID-19;
  • Explain to Canadians how, when, and where they will be able to get a vaccine when it becomes available;
  • Provide rapid COVID-19 tests for all travellers entering Canada; and
  • Share with Canadians more timely information about the locations and sources of community spread.

Meanwhile, folks here in Kootenay-Columbia are growing more and more frustrated as the days pass. What does the future hold for our community and for our country?

I’m proud to be part of a strong Conservative team led by Erin O’Toole that is standing up for every single Canadian feeling left behind by the Trudeau government.

Conservatives believe Canada must be more resilient and self-reliant for the future. This health crisis has taught us that we can only count on ourselves in a crisis. We need to be more community-focused and support each other while protecting the vulnerable. We know we can overcome adversity together and emerge from the this health crisis stronger and more united as a country than ever before.

After four years of Justin Trudeau, our country is more divided, less prosperous and less respected on the world stage. Conservatives are working to change that. Canadians need to see a real plan to test, trace, and isolate those who are infected. Shutting down the country is simply not a solution. Conservatives are calling on Justin Trudeau to finally do what he should have done months ago to protect Canadians’ lives and their jobs.

My office has had the opportunity to assist so many during this difficult time and we will continue to be there for all Kootenay-Columbians who are in need of help. Should you need assistance please do consider reaching out: [email protected].

Rob Morrison,

Member of Parliament for Kootenay-Columbia
