Elkford celebrating 50th and Wildcat Days Sept. 24-26
Elkford is merging Wildcat Days and its 50th anniversary celebration into one big community bash Sept. 24 to 26.
The District of Elkford officially turned 50 on July 16 but due to uncertainty around COVID-19 restrictions and planning, that celebration was delayed, along with the 2021 Wildcat Days.
“We are inviting everyone to join us on Sept. 24 to 26 for an extra special event, combining Wildcat Days and Elkford’s 50th anniversary. We’re excited to announce that Teck Coal Ltd. will be joining to help support these celebrations and introduce some new events,” a district newsletter outlined.
District Mayor Dean McKerracher August 6 extended an invite to fellow Regional District of East Kootenay board directors to consider a visit to Elkford to join in on the celebrations.
“We’re hopeful the gatherings will be allowed,” he said before exclaiming the planned fireworks show will be double the usual display as last year’s supply will be added in.
