Citizens of the Year
Alti Murray and Jason Zimmer have been named Elkford’s Citizens of the Year for 2017. Both residents were nominated for their volunteer work with the Wapiti Ski Club, where they exhibited selflessness and modesty in keeping the ski hill in good condition.

Balmer North and Miners Memorial Project
Council approved a donation of $5,000 to the Balmer North and Miners Memorial Project. The project pays homage to those who have lost their lives in mining. The memorial consists of a bronze life size statue of a miner situated at Titan Park in Sparwood and a memorial wall with 181 names of all fallen miners in the Corbin – Sparwood – Elkford area mines.
