First-term City of Fernie Councillor Tracey Audia Kelly is seeking a second term on council in the upcoming municipal election on October 17.

Elected in 2022, Audia Kelly says four years at the council table have provided crucial insight into local governance.

“Since being elected in 2022, I have acquired a broad base of knowledge about the challenges that we face as a community,” she stated. “I am committed to continuing the work of helping our community move forward so that the future is promising for everyone who calls Fernie home.”

Audia Kelly highlighted key challenges facing the city, including the infrastructure deficit, managing sustainable growth, and balancing community needs with tight municipal budgets.

Key priorities for a second term include advancing the city’s wastewater renewal project, maintaining essential core services, and continuing to shape long-term growth through the Official Community Plan process, community engagement and economic growth strategies.

Kelly, who was born and raised in Fernie, has extensive local governance experience, including 20 years on the board of Fernie Minor Hockey and involvement with municipal advisory boards.

She is a committed community volunteer who believes in giving back and building community.

She emphasized the importance of community partnerships, pointing to successful initiatives such as the EVR Summit Centre, the planned multi-purpose recreation facility as an example for delivering public amenities with minimal cost to taxpayers.

“We have accomplished much in the past four years, and there is more work needed to reach our goals. I remain committed to working hard for Fernie,” Kelly said.
