The City of Fernie is asking residents to avoid the Black Rock Place Subdivision area (off Castle Mountain Rd.) until further notice due to a gas line leak at a residential property.

Fernie Fire Rescue is on scene and will be evacuating a small number of residential properties until the repairs are complete.

Fortis BC is on site currently making repairs and heavy equipment is en route from Cranbrook to assist.

The city will provide an update as soon as new information is available. In the meantime, please assist by avoiding the area.
