Please be advised that Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting and the Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure have extended the road closure of Coal Creek Road at the River Road FSR, near Fernie.

High water in the area is causing a potential safety hazard to road users. Please avoid travel in this area.

Mainroad crews will be monitoring the situation overnight and reassess the closure over the next 48 hours.

Drivers are reminded to obey signs and traffic control personnel and watch for roadside workers.
