February at the Fernie Heritage Library

THEME for February at the Fernie Heritage Library: People in our Neighbourhood

Story time (ages three to five): Tuesdays and Fridays 11:15 a.m.-noon; Stories, songs, finger plays, puppets and simple crafts or activity. * NEW* Friday Story time will provide some ukulele instruction for interested parents/caregivers who would like learn. Limited number of ukuleles provided by the library-come early to get yours!

Toddlertime (ages – up to two): Wednesdays 11:15 a.m.-noon; Stories, songs and finger plays as well as an opportunity to meet other parents of babies and young children.

Afterschool Clubs

Tuesday-Friday 3:30-4:45 p.m.

All our clubs are free and include a simple snack.

Please note ages of clubs, as well as whether or not they are drop-in/registration.

Email or call the library to register your child.

Tuesdays:  LEGO CLUB (Ages six to 10) Drop-In

Are you up for a lego challenge? Join in the Lego building fun-new members always welcomed!

Wednesdays: THE PUZZLERS (Ages nine to 12) must register, limited spaces available. The puzzlers is for kids who like to figure things out. This month we are going to be creating and following maps, discovering gps as well as hunting and hiding treasure.

Thursdays: LIVING BOOKS (Ages six to 10) Drop-in; Each week the members of this club are the the master librarians that sign out a new living book. This book is alive and has a fascinating story!!! An exciting new program for kids who love a surprise. Check out the Living Library Bookshelf to see what living book is coming up each week.

Fridays: PIONEER CRAFTS (Ages seven to 10) must register, limited spaces available. It is winter and it is time to get crafty the old-fashioned way! This month we will be working on making our own rug hooking project.

Thursday evening Series

Free, Drop-in. 6:30-8 p.m.

February 13: Family Stories: Part 2

Join Jodie Parker and Anie Hepher for an evening to explore the powerful bond that is created as families engage in storytelling. Bring a family photo or special object and join the conversation.

February 20: An Introduction to Classical Philosophy: Ancient Greece and the Trial of Socrates. Brady MacCarl will facilitate a discussion concentrating on Socrate’s ‘The Apology,’ which covers topics such as justice, honesty and virtue. For more information, please contact via email.

Special Events

February 21: Booked! Fernie Writer’s Series: Timothy Taylor- The Blue Light Project. 8 p.m. General Admission. Local music throughout the evening.

Weekend Programming

Dnd for Teens: Saturdays 2-4 p.m., ages 12+.

GAME ON! Sundays 3-4:30 p.m.

Bring your favourite board game, your favourite people and play on!

Tea/coffee and juice provided. Fun for all ages, Drop-in.
