Fernie Council Connection
The following is a synopsis of what occurred during the March 12 City of Fernie council meeting.
1. PUBLIC HEARING
1.1 PUBLIC HEARING FOR BYLAW NO. 2326, OFFICIAL COMMUNITY PLAN BYLAW NO. 2231, AMENDMENT BYLAW NO. 6, 2017 & BYLAW NO. 2327, ZONING BYLAW NO. 1750, AMENDMENT BYLAW NO. 189, 2017
Council held a public hearing to hear feedback from the public regarding Bylaw No. 2326, which proposes to amend the bylaw to allow distilleries and breweries as industrial uses in the Highway Corridor and Bylaw No. 2327, which proposes to amend the bylaw to include distillery as a permitted use at the specific location of 1441 ‐ 7 Avenue. Both bylaws were given third reading by council and have been sent to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure for approval.
2. STAFF REPORTS
2.1 SILVER RIDGE LOTS 1, 34, 35, DISTRICT LOT 4589, KOOTENAY DISTRICT, PLAN NEP88469
Council authorized the expenditure of $60,035.24 from the Parkland Dedication Reserve Fund to Silver Ridge Developments Inc. for the creation of a park space using Silver Ridge Lots 1, 34 and 25. The expenditure of funds is contingent on the three lots being dedicated as park.
