Fernie Distillers set to open this winter

Fernie Distillers is proud to announce they are in the final stages of renovating their location on 1st Avenue in Fernie.

Operated by husband and wife team Andrew Hayden and Jillian Rutherford (pictured above), Fernie Distillers will be the first licensed craft distillery situated in Fernie.

Fernie Distillers will produce small batches of vodka, liqueurs, seasonal spirits and barrel-aged products with a modern branding approach that draws inspiration from the rich history of the community. Rutherford will head up production and is one of the few female distillers in Canada.

“We look forward to being a part of the revitalization of 1st Avenue and our location adjacent to the future Station Square couldn’t be better,” said Hayden.

Rutherford added: “We are grateful to have the relationship with the Fernie Legion that allowed us to purchase part of their property. We are delighted to have them as neighbours and we’ve become dedicated advocates of theirs.”

Renovations of the 3,200-sq.-ft. building will result in a modern production facility, tasting room and lounge. The lounge and patio will be a new and unique venue available to rent for special events.

Their tagline “Local Spirit. Distilled.” is representative of their dedication to fine spirits that reflect the community and its environment.

“We are passionate about making quality products and are excited to share the result with the community this winter,” Rutherford said.

Fernie Distillers will be producing product and open to the public this winter with specific dates to be confirmed soon.
