Fernie Lions Demolition Derby returns Sept. 5

The Fernie Lions Demolition Derby has been a Labour Day weekend tradition for more than 40 years.

Thousands of people have participated, volunteered or enjoyed the show. All the money raised goes to help kids, seniors and the handicapped in the Elk Valley, so it’s a great way to give to charity and have fun at the same time.

The next derby will be Sept. 5.

The Fernie Lions Club is looking for volunteers to work in the concession and refreshment garden for the Demo Derby on September 5.

Volunteers get free admission, food, and an invite to the volunteer appreciation dinner. This is a great opportunity for grads looking for community hours, too. The hours are flexible but will be between approximately 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

If you can help in the kitchen, contact Caelie Leone.

Contact Lori Caravetta for assisting in the refreshment garden (must be 19 years old and have Serving It Right certification; the Lions Club will pay for volunteers to take the certification course, if necessary).
