The City of Fernie reports a portion of 5th Avenue, between 13th St. and 15th St., will be closed from October 1 to 3 while contractors install underground utility services at the site of the new Fire Hall.

An alternate route via 13th St., 6th Ave., and 15th St. will be available during this time. Access to the RCMP and Hospital will be maintained at all times via 13th St. and 15th St., respectively.

Access to resident driveways and properties will also be maintained. Please follow all posted signage.

Due to the water service installation, water service will be temporarily interrupted on October 1 for nearby apartment buildings along 5th Avenue and 6th Ave.

The interruption is expected to start at 11 a.m. and last approximately four hours. Notices have been delivered to affected residents.

Contractors anticipate repaving the road and pouring sidewalks following the completion of utility service connections. We will continue to provide updates as construction progresses or if circumstances change.
