Elk Valley RCMP and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure are currently investigating a single vehicle collision on Highway 3 west of Fernie.

A semi truck involved is currently blocking both lanes of traffic with no possible detour. The collision has also damaged the Lizard Creek Bridge, which will be assessed by the ministry before the highway is re-opened.

At present drivers are asked to avoid the area or find alternative routes. The closure will last several hours with updates being given through DriveBC.
