Snowfall warning issued for Elk Valley
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Elk Valley.
A long period of snowfall with total amounts of 20 to 30 cm is expected.
A robust frontal system is sliding south over the Interior of B.C. and bringing snow to the region today and tonight.
Over Arrow-Slocan, as well as northern portions of Kootenay Lake 15 to 25 cm is expected by Wednesday morning.
For the West Kootenay region, the highest accumulations are expected over higher terrain and will amount to 20 to 30 cm storm total.
In the Elk Valley region, areas near Fernie and Morrissey can expect upwards of 15 to 25 cm of snow this afternoon through to early Wednesday morning.
Total snowfall accumulation over Kootenay Pass is expected to be 20 to 40 cm.
The heavy snow is expected to ease by Wednesday morning.
Travel is not recommended. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays.
