Missing Sparwood woman located deceased
A Sparwood woman reported missing on August 5 has been located deceased.
Elk Valley RCMP confirmed that 63-year-old Susan Hickey of Sparwood was sadly located deceased August 8, with foul play being ruled out.
“We thank the community for their efforts in trying to locate her, especially the Sparwood Search and Rescue (SAR) volunteers. The investigation has now been turned over to the BC Coroner Service,” said Cpl. Dan Hay, acting Operations NCO of Elk Valley RCMP Detachment.
“As it is now a BC Coroner investigation, no further details will be provided,” he added.
Sparwood SAR reached out on social media to “sincerely thank all the volunteer members, both from our SAR group and the multiple supporting SAR groups, who put in many long hours in often difficult conditions during the search in Sparwood over the last three days. We would also like to thank all the members of the public for their vigilance and cooperation.”
