Smoke alarm campaign to begin in Sparwood

The Sparwood Fire Department is set to begin its smoke alarm campaign beginning this week. Firefighters will be canvassing higher risk areas, areas starting with Mountainview Mobile Home Park beginning after 5 p.m. on August 5, and transitioning to Spardell and possibly Elk Valley and Lodgepole Mobile Home Parks over the weekend.

The smoke alarm campaign is intended to bring awareness about the importance of working smoke alarms and to help residents to keep their homes and neighborhoods safe.

The team of firefighters canvassing door-to-door will haves fire alarms, and assist with install, or inspection of already installed alarms for free to support this important initiative.

If there are residents who do not have a working smoke alarm, have an alarm that is 10 years old or older, are elderly, vulnerable or disabled and require an inspection on a previously installed alarm or assistance installing a new alarm, contact Fire Chief Kris Hill at 250-425-0558 or [email protected] to discuss arranging an alarm installation or inspection for no cost.
