Sparwood fire considered suspicious
Elk Valley RCMP and the Sparwood Fire Department responded to an early morning fire on August 24 in the Whiskey Jack subdivision.
The fire, which is now being considered suspicious, started sometime between 7-730 a.m. and was first noticed by construction crews in the area. An isolated slash pile was ignited causing a large amount of smoke in the area.
The Sparwood Fire Department and the construction crew working in the area responded quickly with heavy machinery and water trucks, taking control of the fire without issue or damage to any surrounding property.
