Traffic moving on Highway 3 after crash east of Sparwood
UPDATE: Traffic is now moving in both directions on Highway 3. “Elk Valley RCMP are grateful to our emergency service partners and local tow operators for their assistance. Please travel safely this May long weekend.”
The May long weekend is just getting started and there is already a major traffic snarl due to a collision on Highway 3 between Sparwood and the Alberta border.
Elk Valley RCMP reported at 11:45 a.m. (May 19) on social media: “At this time the highway is closed in both directions. A detour is not available.
“Police anticipate being able to open one lane of traffic to single lane alternating traffic soon.”
Keep an eye on DriveBC for updates on this situation and on other highways in the East Kootenay as long weekend traffic really gets moving.
