Kimberley goalie KIJHL Star of the Week
The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) is pleased to announce its Stars of the Week for the period ending April 12.
Goalie – Adam Kisilevich – Kimberley Dynamiters
The Edmonton native stopped 49 of 54 shots in Game 3 and 4 combined against the Beaver Valley Nitehawks, helping the Dynamiters advance to the KIJHL Championship. The rookie goalie posted a 2.42 goals against average with a .907 save percentage. Kisilevich now has 11 playoff wins, one behind Posse netminder Gibson Horne. Kisilevich has a 1.52 GAA with a .940 SP in the playoffs.
Forward – Bryton Morrow – Princeton Posse
Morrow was an offensive driver for the Posse scoring back-to-back game-winners against the Williams Lake Mustangs to sweep the Okanagan/Shuswap Conference Final. Morrow also added an assist for a three-point performance in the clinching game to finish the week with three points in two games. The Adrossan, Alta., native was +4 playing an average of 18:03 a game and he’s tied for first in the KIJHL Championship with 27 points in 17 games.
Defenceman – Ben Dods – Princeton Posse
Dods collected three assists for the Posse in their final two games against the Mustangs, helping them advance to the KIJHL Championship. The Chilliwack native assisted on the winning goal in a 4-2 final in Game 3, then assisted on the 1-1 and 4-1 empty-net goal in Game 4. He played an average of 23:56 a game and was +6. Dods is second among all KIJHL defencemen with 11 points in 17 games.
Kimberley and Princeton face off in game one of the KIJHL finals this Friday, April 17 at Kimberley Civic Centre. Game time is 7 p.m.
