City of Kimberley Mayor Don McCormick says despite being under an evacuation alert due to two Fires of Note to the west, the city remains open for business.

“The alert is a call to action for residents to prepare in the event that the situation escalates. Visitors are ready to go by definition, so other than paying attention to conditions as they change, your visit should go as planned,” he stated on social media today (July 22).

“Please call your accommodator for an up to the moment summary of where things are at. You can then make an informed decision concerning your visit.

“Together we will manage our way through this,” he assured.
