KUR earns distinguished Heritage BC Award
The Kimberley Underground Mining Railway (KUR) has received a 2019 Heritage BC award.
KUR was recently presented the Outstanding Distinguished Service Award in the 2019 Heritage BC Awards.
The honour prompted Columbia River-Revelstoke MLA Doug Clovechok to note on social media “the little train that could has won the highest level for Distinguished Service in the 2019 Heritage BC Awards; congrats on being recognized for your outstanding” service.”
The KUR was the lone East Kootenay attraction to be honoured this year, but three Central Kootenay sites received awards, including: Kaslo’s City Hall for Outstanding Heritage Conservation; the Rossland Seniors Centre Façade Restoration Project; and SS Moyie Fire Suppression Replacement Project (Kaslo) received Heritage Conservation Recognition awards.
Established in 1981, Heritage BC is a charitable society serving individuals and corporate members with a shared interest in historic places and heritage conservation, and their benefits to the people of British Columbia.
HBC organizes events and workshops for the heritage community, publishes a newsletter, has an annual awards program and advocates on behalf of the heritage community.
