Notes from City Hall

Council Meeting Schedule

The November 18 City of Kimberley council Committee-of-the-Whole meeting is being replaced with a Special Meeting of Council where proposed modifications to the base 2020-2024 Operating Budget will be presented for Council’s consideration. Meetings are held in Council Chambers upstairs at City Hall at 7 p.m.

Angle Parking

Angle parking IS NOT permitted on city streets except where posted. There are very few locations in Kimberley that allow for angle parking. Please pay attention to signage and limit angle parking to those areas.

Angle parking causes many threats:

  • It is a safety issue. Angle parking reduces a driver’s visibility and forces a vehicle onto the street and unable to see oncoming traffic or pedestrians.
  • It is an issue for city operations. Angel parking greatly affects snow clearing by reducing road width and in many cases, not allowing space for the snow plows to pass at all.
  • We need to preserve our infrastructure. Angle parking forces vehicles to move onto shoulders and off of paved roads thereby eroding asphalt and damaging city infrastructure.
  • Please avoid angle parking on all city streets other than where posted. Let’s do our best to keep everyone safe and our operations moving through the winter months and all year-round.

Recreational Asset Sale

To help residents and visitors better understand the city’s proposed recreational asset sale, we’ve prepared answers to the most frequently asked questions received. Please visit the city webpage to review the FAQs.

Non-Residential Gap Analysis

The Economic Development Department, along with contractors FBM Architecture and MDB Insights, is conducting a Non-Residential Gap Analysis for the City of Kimberley. This analysis will help assess, identify and define retail and light industrial gaps and opportunities in the city. As a part of this study, the project team will be conducting a random telephone survey of 200 residents about shopping patterns and preferences in Kimberley as well as canvassing business owners and operators to gather input into the local market. If you are interested in participating in this study, please contact Schaun Goodeve at [email protected].
