Work beginning on Swan Avenue Playground

The City of Kimberley reports that work on the new Swan Avenue Playground is beginning this week.

The basketball court and field space will not be accessible for the duration of the project in order to keep the community and staff safe, the city explained.

During the evening hours, please respect the barriers that have been left in place to ensure everyone’s safety.

The new park will have a children’s climbing apparatus, zip line and swings as well as picnic tables, benches and plenty of room to lace up skates in the winter.

Once the park is built, the city will continue to maintain the space.

Contractors are expected to complete work by October.

This project was made possible by many individuals and agencies. Two major grants were provided by Columbia Basin Trust’s Outdoor Active Recreation Program and the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative with support from Healthy Kimberley.

Additional in-kind, financial and volunteer support was received from neighbourhood residents, local businesses and contractors, and the City of Kimberley.
