Local swimmers learn from the best

On the Friday, March 24, two swimmers from the Sparwood Dragonflies after school swim club got the chance to learn from the best – literally!

The girls joined swimmers from across Southern Alberta for a swim clinic with Brent Hayden, six-time Canadian record holder and still the fastest Canadian male swimmer of all time.

The girls got to participate in a very hands-on freestyle (front crawl) skills breakdown clinic in the water, as well as ask Hayden questions about motivation, goal setting, fitness and diet – and just about anything else.

The swim clinic was a coordinated effort between the Dragonflies Swim Coach (Yvette Putter), and the swim club presidents from Pincher Creek and Crowsnest Pass.

The goal is to have the camp return to the area annually each spring.
