ICE send Faith to Moose Jaw

The Kootenay ICE this morning traded 20-year-old defenseman Tanner Faith to the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for a conditional 5th round pick in the 2016 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

“With seven 1995-born players on our roster, difficult decisions had to be made and this transaction is no exception. Moose Jaw is getting a quality person in Tanner Faith, who has untapped potential as a player. We wish Tanner all the very best with the Warriors and thank him for his contributions to our hockey club,” said Jeff Chynoweth, ICE General Manager.

Faith was a second round selection (33rd overall) in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft; in 88 career regular-season games with the ICE he amassed 15 points (3-12-15) and 75 penalty minutes. Faith was selected in the 5th Round, 139th overall, by the Minnesota Wild in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Including long-term injuries and players at NHL training camps, the ICE is now carrying 27 players (three goaltenders, 10 defensemen and 14 forwards).

The ICE open the 2015/16 WHL season this Friday (Sept. 25) at home against rival Calgary Hitmen. Game time is 7 p.m. at Western Financial Place in Cranbrook.

The ICE head to Calgary the next day for a return engagement against the Hitmen on Saturday.
