Panorama to host mud run for the first time
Panorama Mountain Village is preparing for hundreds of fitness buffs, runners and adventure-seekers to descend on the resort to compete in the inaugural Mudd, Sweat & Tears Rockies obstacle course mud run on September 12.
Mudd, Sweat & Tears Canada (MST) ā an all-Canadian adventure racing company ā recently confirmed Panorama as the seventh stop on their 2015 national schedule.
The event promises to deliver eight kilometres of mud-soaked crawling, trail running, and climbing over a series of natural and signature obstacles. āAs the host venue for a variety of downhill skiing, Nordic and mountain bike events, coupled with their expansive and varied terrain, Panorama was the logical choice for a long-term race location in the area,ā stated John Reed of Mudd, Sweat & Tears Canada. āThe resortās family friendly alpine village feel, stunning vistas and super steeps are completed by the perfect mix of trails, terrain and open areas that we look for.ā
āPanorama is the perfect outdoor event destination,ā stated Patrick Gillespie, Race and Mountain Events Manager, at Panorama Mountain Village. āVery few locations have the diversity of activities and natural terrain that we have and our track record of hosting major outdoor events was a natural fit with Mudd, Sweat & Tears,ā stated Gillespie.
Obstacle course racing is one of the latest fitness trends to move everyone from adrenaline aficionados to routine health buffs. MST focuses on designing obstacles and races customized to the venue – from ski resorts and famous landmarks to urban city centres, each course is chosen and designed with Canadaās ultimate outdoor adventure terrain in mind.
For 2015, the MST will be introducing a āGet in the Muddā program which gives beginners a challenging but less-extreme option at the most difficult obstacles on the course. This new program makes this popular format of racing more accessible to enthusiastic participants starting out in a competitive environment.
Registration for MST Rockies is now open, with early-registration and team incentives available. For more information, visit muddsweatandtears.com.
