Reinhart setting ICE scoring ceiling

ICE ReinhartWith each goal and assist Sam Reinhart collects moving forward toward the end of the Western Hockey League (WHL) regular season he sets a new standard for the most points ever scored by a Kootenay ICE player.

Reinhart, drafted second overall in last year’s NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres, scored twice, and Wyatt Hoflin stopped 46 shots as the ICE defeated the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-1 on Western Financial Group Pink the Rink night Feb. 20.

Reinhart’s goal 7:10 into the third period stood up as the game-winner as the ICE captain became the first player in franchise history to reach 300 career points.

The win was the 30th of the season for the ICE and fourth in six tries this season against the Oil Kings, a team they are jockeying with for playoff positioning in the WHL’s Eastern Conference.
