Wildcat Days rolling this weekend
Wildcat Charlie Weigert is one celebrated fella, and true to tradition, the folks in Elkford are once again gearing up to honour their past and present this weekend.
With all its family fun and festivities, Wildcat Days returns Saturday and Sunday, June 28/29.
During the 19th and early 20th centuries, the exploration and extraction of the abundant resources in the lower Elk Valley continued, but few settlers braved the challenges of the wilderness frontier in the Elkford area. One prominent character – ‘Wildcat’ Charlie Weigert – was a trapper well-known for his hospitality in the area, and of which the annual Elkford celebration ‘Wildcat Days’ is named.
The celebration includes a parade, starting at 11 a.m., fireworks, a craft and trade fair, volleyball tournament and live entertainment.
On Saturday the Elkford Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Silent Auction and Craft Fair – Vendors – Reserve your table/space.
And running Saturday and Sunday is the Grass Smash Volleyball Tournament – with teams composed of two guys and two gals. Cash prizes! Learn More
