Wild girls hang tough at Calgary tourney

The Mt. Baker Senior Girls’ volleyball team competed in the University of Calgary Dino’s High School Invitational Sept 22-23, with several top provincially-ranked teams. The team went 3-0 in pool play on day one. Day two, Mt. Baker won the bronze medal match in a tough three set battle with Alberta ninth ranking team Chinook. There was excellent defensive play on both sides and a strong offensive presence from the Mt. Baker Wild team.

During one of their matches, the team had a nice surprise visit from National Team member, Dallas Soonias who came to watch the team play. Dallas was in Cranbrook this summer leading a camp which some of the team members attended.

The Mt. Baker Wild look to improve their B.C. High School Provincial ranking, which is ninth as of Sept 18. Next week the team will travel to Western Canada to compete in the Red Mile Classic.
