Baynes Lake Farmers’ Market a big’un

Farmers’ markets are all the rage in the East Kootenay lately, and if you include yourself as someone who likes to nose around fresh, locally grown fruit, vegetables, meat, seafood, clothing, crafts, art,  jewelry, plants, herbs/spices, soaps, collectibles and countless types of household goods and information, then the Baynes Lake/Jaffray Farmers’ Market is for you.

Running every Saturday at the Baynes Lake Community Centre, the market features a sausage and pancake breakfast in the adjacent community hall, run by the Lions Club. It also features perhaps the most vendors of any market in the region, with about 40 or more opening shop each week.

Arrive early to get the best dibs on the massive variety of delicacies and organic food, and to get the best parking spots. If you can’t get to the market until later in the morning, be prepared for a short walk.

The Baynes Lake Farmers’ Market runs each Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., until September 3.
