The City of Fernie’s water department began the annual task of main line flushing on Oct. 4.

This preventative work improves water quality by removing sediment deposits and helps to maintain adequate flow and pressure throughout our water distribution system.

Fernie water crews will be working over the next four to five weeks in the following neighbourhoods: Parkland, Ridgemont, Pine Ave., Castle Mountain, and the Annex.

Residents may briefly notice trace amounts of water discolouration as we complete flushing in their neighbourhood.

This mild turbidity is normal and can be resolved by running a cold tap for a few minutes until the water clears.
