At the Library

By Mike Selby

Cranbrook Public Library

The Cranbrook Public Library opened its door on July 4, 1925, meaning we are turning 100! It is not so much a celebration of us, but a celebration of you—and everyone who has used the library during the past century.  Congratulations to all of us!

The Friends of the Library’s Spring Book Sale is right around the corner. The Manual Training School (adjacent to the Library) is the venue. Friday, April 4 from 3 to 5 p.m. is for Friends members only. Saturday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. everyone is welcome.

Books have been sorted into numerous categories to make your shopping easier. We have a huge amount of gardening books with ideas to spruce up your yard. There are also DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, puzzles, games and magazines. Cash or cheque only.

If you are spring cleaning, we will welcome with open arms any books you may wish to give us.  Of course we’re also happy to have DVDs, CDs, audiobooks puzzles and games in good condition. Magazines can be donated if published in the last two years. Please bring items to the Welcome Desk in the Library anytime.

Have you joined our 2025 Reading Challenge? We’re challenging all Cranbrook citizens to read 10 books this year!

Grab a 2025 Reading Challenge Bookmark from the Welcome Desk and read 10 items of any genre, format (yes, audiobooks count) and fill in the title on the back of the bookmark.

Once your bookmark is complete drop it off at the Welcome Desk to be entered for a Cranbrook Public Library Swag Bag and other surprises during our CPL 100 Years of Stories Anniversary celebration. If you like, grab another bookmark and start again!
