Obituary of Pauline CIBULKA
Pauline CIBULKA
A lifetime resident of the Elk Valley, eighty-eight-year-old Pauline Cibulka passed away peacefully at Rocky Mountain Village on May 14th, surrounded by family.
On January 23rd, 1937, Pauline was born moments before her twin brother Paulko to Helen and Tom Androlick. She was the first graduate of the first graduating class of Sparwood Secondary School in 1955. After completing training on Vancouver Island, she went on to teach at elementary schools in the valley for almost thirty years. In 1956, her older brother Henry introduced her to his friend Victor, a farm boy from the prairies, who had come to work in the mine. Though she always swore she would never wed a farmer or a coal miner, his blue eyes won her over, and the two were married in 1958. They built their home and their family in Sparwood, where they loved hosting family and friends, especially for Christmas dinner and New Year’s Eve. Pauline loved traveling, camping, country music, and crafts. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lady’s Auxiliary for over sixty years.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Paulko and Henry and sister, Irene. She is survived by her husband, Vic; children, Lana (Bud Haycock) and Brent; best friend, Amber Dean and her children Brady, Nolan, and Carter; grandchildren, Deanna, Carsen, and Bailey and many other relatives and friends.
The Cibulka family would like to thank Dr. Rader, the staff at Rocky Mountain Village, the Sparwood home nursing team, and all the health care workers who provided such amazing care.
